MATTHEW 28:18–20 / UNTIL ALL HAVE HEARD

Message notes

WHAT WE HEARD

  1. Jesus begins with authority: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” The command rests on who He is, not on how ready we feel.
  2. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations"; the last command of Jesus is not a suggestion for the professionally religious. It is the commission of every believer.
  3. Making disciples is more than converts: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything He commanded.
  4. The promise closes the gap: “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Obedience is never alone.

WHAT TO DO WITH IT

  1. Name the person in front of you. The Great Commission usually begins with one name, not a nation.
  2. Get baptized if you have believed; the new convert is commanded to go public in water.
  3. Get into the Word line by line. Disciples are made by teaching, not by atmosphere.
  4. Take the next step: Growth Track on the 2nd and 4th Sunday, a Squad, or a serving team.
